The Trojan War

The Trojan War started because prince of Troy Paris and Helen the wife of Menelaus who was king of Sparta and brother Agamemnon king of all Greece. Paris had taken Helen back to troy with him and she had taken many treasures with her. When Menelaus found out he sailed to his brother to get help so they could attack.

So the Greek army sailed to Troy and the Trojans prepared for war. When the Greeks got to Troy they met with the ambassador of Troy and were furious with his terms and launched an attack on the city. They were driven back with heavy casualties.

The war turned into lasting many years. The Greeks had started raiding villages and everything else hoping it would make the Trojans come out of the city and fight it did not work.

One day Agamemnon awoke and prepared the Greek army for battle and they marched to the city. Paris was to fight Menelaus to settle everything. Hector said the winner gets Helen and the treasures, but Aphrodite interfered and took Paris back to the lines. The armies attacked each other and when Achilles cousin joined the battle, he was killed by Hector.

Achilles is put in charge of the army. He was to fight Hector and when they did the gods took sides.

Achilles kills Hector and dragged his body in a chariot for eleven days. The king of troy gets help from the gods to get his son Hector back.

After a while the Trojans found the beach completely deserted, except for a giant wooden horse. Some wanted to bring it into the city and others wanted to destroy it. They brought it into the city and celebrated the end of the war. At night the Greeks came out of the wooden horse and opened the gates of the city. The entire Greek army swept into the city and burned it down killing everyone in it and the entire royal family. In the morning the Greeks left the city and went to their ships and sailed back to Greece.
